How we implement B2B Edition

  1. Map companies and buyers. We document your trade accounts: parent and subsidiary companies, the buyers and approvers in each, their addresses, payment methods, credit limits and terms. This maps onto B2B Edition companies, account hierarchy, and user roles and permissions.
  2. Configure pricing and ordering. Negotiated prices go into BigCommerce price lists assigned to the right customer groups. We set up quotes, shopping lists and reorder flows in the Buyer Portal so buyers can request a quote, have a list approved, and turn either into an order.
  3. Integrate the ERP. We connect B2B Edition to your ERP through the BigCommerce and B2B Edition APIs so companies, price lists, credit, invoices and orders stay in sync. We agree which system owns each record before any data moves.
  4. Onboard buyers and launch. Companies and buyers are imported with their roles, tested against real orders, quotes and invoices, then invited to the Buyer Portal. Your sales team gets a runbook for adding companies, changing terms and handling quotes.

B2B Edition timeline

Set after the account mapping

The timeline depends on the number of companies and price lists, how deep the company hierarchy goes, and the ERP integration. We confirm it in writing after the account mapping. Clean customer and pricing data in the ERP shortens the project more than anything else.

FAQ

What is BigCommerce B2B Edition?

B2B Edition is BigCommerce's B2B layer. It adds company accounts with hierarchy and user roles and permissions, a Buyer Portal for trade customers, sales quotes, shopping lists, invoices, and company payment methods with credit and net terms. Negotiated prices use core BigCommerce price lists.

How much does BigCommerce B2B Edition cost?

BigCommerce quotes the B2B Edition licence directly, so the price depends on your agreement with BigCommerce. Our implementation is quoted separately as a fixed scope, in writing, after we have mapped your companies, pricing and integrations.

What can trade buyers do in the Buyer Portal?

Company users can place orders at their negotiated prices, request and accept sales quotes and take them to checkout, build shopping lists and send them for approval, view invoices and order history, and manage other users in their company if their role allows it.

Can B2B Edition handle parent and subsidiary companies?

Yes. B2B Edition supports account hierarchy, so a parent company can sit above subsidiaries or branches, each with its own buyers, addresses and permissions. We map your real group structure during the account mapping so approvals and visibility work the way your customers expect.

Can B2B Edition connect to our ERP?

Yes. The BigCommerce and B2B Edition APIs cover companies, users, addresses, payments, invoices, orders and quotes, which is what an ERP integration needs. We decide which system owns each record first, so prices, credit and invoices never get overwritten by the wrong side.

Can we run trade and retail on the same BigCommerce store?

Yes. Many merchants run B2B and B2C on one store, or use Multi-Storefront to give trade buyers a separate storefront. With Multi-Storefront, products must be assigned to each channel and inventory is shared across channels, which we plan for in the catalogue set-up.

Should we choose BigCommerce B2B Edition or Shopify B2B?

It depends on your account structure and integrations. B2B Edition is strong on company hierarchy, quotes and shopping lists in its Buyer Portal. Shopify B2B is available on Basic and above, and on Plus it adds catalogs assigned to each company location. We build on both and compare them against your requirements.

How do credit limits and net terms work in B2B Edition?

Payment methods, available credit and net terms are set per company through B2B Edition. A trusted account can order on terms up to its credit limit, while a new account can be restricted to card payment until terms are agreed. We map your current credit policy onto these settings.

Can we migrate to B2B Edition from another B2B platform?

Yes. We move companies, buyers, addresses, price lists and order history from Magento, Adobe Commerce, WooCommerce or another BigCommerce set-up into B2B Edition, and redirect old URLs so organic traffic is kept.
