How we build Shopify B2B stores
- Map your trade accounts. We document how you sell today: which companies buy, which of their staff can order, which delivery locations they use, what prices and terms each one has, and where that data lives now. This becomes the blueprint for Shopify companies, contacts, locations and catalogs.
- Choose the plan and set-up. Shopify B2B runs on Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus, with different limits. We check your catalog count, payment terms and deposit needs against each plan, and decide whether trade and retail share one store or run separately.
- Build and integrate. We set up companies, catalogs, quantity rules and volume pricing, build the trade ordering experience in the theme, and connect the ERP so customer accounts, price lists, stock and orders stay in sync without manual re-keying.
- Onboard buyers and launch. Trade customers are imported with their companies and locations, invited to their accounts, and tested against real orders before launch. Your sales team gets a runbook for adding companies and changing terms.
What's included
- A trade account blueprint mapping your buyers to Shopify companies, contacts, locations and catalogs
- A plan recommendation based on your catalog count, terms and deposit needs, so you do not pay for Plus unless you need it
- Negotiated catalogs with price lists, quantity rules and volume pricing, assigned per company or location on Plus
- Payment terms, vaulted cards and draft-order review set up for the way your trade customers pay
- A trade ordering experience with the quick order list for repeat buyers
- ERP integration for accounts, prices, stock and orders, with clear rules for which system owns which data
B2B project timeline
Set after the account mapping
The timeline depends on the number of trade accounts and catalogs, whether trade and retail share a store, and the depth of the ERP integration. We confirm it in writing after the account mapping stage. Clean customer and price data shortens the project more than anything else.
FAQ
Do I need Shopify Plus for B2B?
No. Shopify B2B is available on Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus, but not on Starter or Retail. Below Plus you can have 3 active B2B market catalogs. Plus adds unlimited catalogs, catalogs assigned directly to a company or location, and deposits or partial payments. Many wholesalers with a few price tiers do not need Plus.
What B2B features does every Shopify B2B plan include?
On every plan with B2B: company accounts with contacts and locations, quantity rules, volume pricing, payment terms from Net 7 to Net 90, vaulted cards, the option to submit orders as drafts for review, and the quick order list on free themes from version 11.0.0. Plan differences sit mainly in catalog limits and payment options.
Should trade and retail customers share one Shopify store?
Often yes. Shopify B2B lets one store show trade prices and terms to logged-in company contacts while retail shoppers see the normal storefront, which keeps one catalogue and one stock pool. A separate trade store makes sense when the range, branding or fulfilment is very different. We recommend one or the other after the account mapping.
How do negotiated prices work on Shopify B2B?
Prices sit in catalogs, which carry a price list. Below Plus, catalogs are attached to up to 3 B2B markets. On Plus, catalogs can also be assigned directly to a company or one of its locations, so one company can have different prices for different branches. Quantity rules and volume pricing add minimums, increments and price breaks on top.
Can Shopify B2B connect to our ERP?
Yes, and for most wholesalers it must. We connect Shopify to the ERP so trade accounts, catalogs and price lists, stock levels and orders move between the systems automatically. The first decision is which system owns each piece of data, so the integration never overwrites a price or an account by mistake.
Can trade customers pay on account?
Yes. Payment terms from Net 7 to Net 90 are available on every B2B plan, and buyers can store cards for later payment. Deposits and partial payments on Shopify B2B are Plus only, which matters for made-to-order or high-value trade orders.
Can you migrate our existing B2B store to Shopify?
Yes. We move trade companies, buyers, delivery addresses, price lists and order history from Magento, Adobe Commerce, WooCommerce, BigCommerce or Salesforce Commerce Cloud into Shopify B2B, and redirect old URLs so organic traffic is kept.
Can orders from trade buyers be reviewed before they are placed?
Yes. On every Shopify B2B plan you can have orders submitted as drafts, so your team reviews pricing, stock or credit before the order is confirmed. This suits made-to-order lines and accounts that need approval before dispatch.
What is the quick order list?
The quick order list lets trade buyers add many variants of a product in one go by entering quantities in a table, instead of adding each variant to the cart separately. It is available on free Shopify themes from version 11.0.0, which speeds up repeat wholesale orders.
Can Shopify B2B run on a headless storefront?
Yes. Shopify documents B2B for headless storefronts through its storefront APIs, so a Hydrogen or other custom front end can show company-specific prices and catalogs. We only recommend headless for B2B when the trade experience needs it.
How is a Shopify B2B build priced?
As a fixed scope, quoted in writing after the account mapping. The quote depends on the number of companies and catalogs, the store set-up and the ERP integration. We do not quote before we have seen how your trade accounts and prices are structured today.
