Salesforce Commerce Cloud to Shopify Migration
Senior engineers moving Salesforce B2C Commerce (SFCC) stores to Shopify Plus. We audit your cartridges before anything moves, decide what to rebuild and what to retire, migrate catalogue, customer and order data, and protect your rankings with a complete 301 redirect plan.

Our SFCC migration process
- Audit the SFCC build. We read the cartridge path, SFRA overrides, custom controllers and ISML templates, the OCAPI and SCAPI integrations, and the job schedules. Every customisation gets one of three labels: rebuild on Shopify, replace with an app or Shopify Function, or retire. Retiring logic nobody uses any more is the cheapest part of any migration.
- Map the data. SFCC master products and variation attributes, categories, price books, customer profiles and order history are mapped to Shopify products, variants, collections, customers and orders. B2B accounts are mapped to Shopify B2B companies, contacts and locations. We verify record counts and spot-check data at each stage.
- Rebuild storefront and integrations. The storefront is rebuilt as a Shopify theme or a Hydrogen headless storefront. ERP, OMS, PIM, email and payment integrations are re-pointed to Shopify with the same data contracts, and promotions are rebuilt with Shopify discounts or Shopify Functions where the logic is custom.
- Parallel run and cutover. We build the 301 redirect map from a full URL inventory of the SFCC storefront and Search Console, run Shopify alongside the live store, reconcile real orders end to end, then cut over DNS in a low-traffic window. A monitoring period follows the switch.
What's included
- A written cartridge audit that labels every SFCC customisation as rebuild, replace or retire, so you only pay to move logic you still need
- Catalogue, price book, customer and order history migration with record counts verified at each stage
- A complete 301 redirect map from every SFCC URL to its Shopify equivalent, live from the first minute after cutover
- Storefront rebuilt as a Shopify theme or a Hydrogen headless storefront, with your brand kept intact
- ERP, OMS, PIM, email and payment integrations re-pointed to Shopify, and B2B accounts moved to Shopify B2B
- An honest stay-or-migrate recommendation: if SFCC is still the better platform for your business, the audit says so
Migration timeline
Set after the audit
The timeline depends on catalogue size, the depth of custom cartridge logic, B2B scope and the number of integrations. We confirm the window in writing once the audit shows the real shape of the store. The Shopify build is the predictable part; undocumented cartridge logic and data quality are what move the date.
FAQ
Why do brands migrate from Salesforce Commerce Cloud to Shopify Plus?
SFCC is a capable enterprise platform, so the trigger is usually total cost of ownership. The licence, the agency retainer needed to ship small changes and the upkeep of custom cartridges add up. Shopify Plus moves hosting, upgrades and checkout security to Shopify, so the in-house team spends its time on the storefront instead of the platform.
What happens to our SFCC cartridges?
Cartridges are not ported line by line, because Shopify has a different extension model. In the audit each cartridge is labelled: rebuild as a Shopify app or theme feature, replace with an existing app or a Shopify Function, or retire. Payment, tax and search cartridges often map to Shopify-native features or established apps; bespoke business logic is where the engineering goes.
Can Shopify handle our SFCC promotions?
Most SFCC promotions map to Shopify discounts. Logic that the standard discounts cannot express, such as tiered or conditional rules, is rebuilt as a Shopify Function. Custom apps that contain Shopify Functions run only on Shopify Plus, which is the plan an SFCC migration normally lands on. We list every promotion in the audit and show how each one will work before the build starts.
How do you protect SEO during an SFCC to Shopify migration?
SFCC and Shopify use different URL structures, so every product, category and content URL needs a 301 redirect to its new address. We build the map from the SFCC storefront and Search Console data before cutover, check canonicals and structured data on the new pages, and monitor crawl errors and rankings after launch so gaps are fixed in hours.
Can you migrate our B2B accounts from SFCC?
Yes. Buying companies, their users and their delivery locations map to Shopify B2B companies, contacts and locations, with catalogs carrying negotiated prices. Shopify B2B is available on Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus; Plus adds unlimited catalogs and direct company and location catalogs, which complex B2B setups often rely on.
What data can you move from SFCC?
Products with variation attributes and images, categories, price books, customer profiles and order history. Large catalogues move through the APIs so custom attributes come across intact. Shopify does not import customer passwords from another platform, so we plan an account activation email for returning customers as part of the launch.
Should some stores stay on Salesforce Commerce Cloud?
Yes. A store with very complex promotions, deep Salesforce CRM dependencies or B2B rules that Shopify cannot model may be better off staying. The audit compares the cost of staying with the cost of moving, and we put the recommendation in writing either way. We also build on SFCC, so a "stay" answer does not end the conversation.
Do we need Shopify Plus after leaving SFCC?
SFCC merchants usually land on Shopify Plus. It is the plan with unlimited B2B catalogs, checkout UI extensions on the information, shipping and payment steps, custom apps that run Shopify Functions, and a GraphQL Admin API limit of 1,000 points per second against 100 on standard plans. The audit confirms whether you need it.
What happens to our OCAPI and SCAPI integrations?
Each integration is rebuilt against Shopify's GraphQL Admin API and webhooks, keeping the data contract your ERP, OMS or PIM already expects where possible. We list every integration in the audit with its direction, volume and owner, and design around Shopify's API rate limits from the start.
Can we keep Salesforce CRM after moving to Shopify?
Yes. Leaving SFCC does not mean leaving Salesforce. Customer and order data can flow from Shopify to Salesforce CRM through an integration, so sales and service teams keep working in the tools they use today. We scope that integration in the audit.
Can we move to a headless Shopify storefront?
Yes. If you run a composable storefront on SFCC today, the front end can move to a headless Shopify build with Hydrogen on React Router or Next.js, with Shopify running the catalogue and checkout. We only recommend headless when the storefront needs it.
How is an SFCC to Shopify migration priced?
As a fixed scope, quoted in writing after the audit. The quote depends on catalogue size, custom cartridge depth, B2B scope and integration count, which we can only judge by reading your codebase. Quoting before the audit is how migration budgets go wrong.
