BigCommerce SEO Services
Engineer-led BigCommerce SEO — Stencil theme fixes, schema, Core Web Vitals, faceted-navigation control, and AI-search visibility. Senior engineers ship commits to your storefront, not a deck of recommendations.
Process
- Audit. Full technical audit of your BigCommerce store — crawl, indexation, robots, sitemap, schema, faceted-URL bloat, BigCommerce SEO settings, redirect manager hygiene, Core Web Vitals on Stencil, AI crawler allow-list, and llms.txt / agents.md coverage. Output is a written report with severity-ranked findings, not a screenshot dump.
- Engineer fixes. A senior engineer ships the fixes — Stencil (Handlebars) template edits, JSON-LD schema, canonical and faceted-navigation rules, 301s through the BigCommerce redirect manager, page-speed budgets, and OG tags. On Catalyst (headless Next.js) storefronts we ship PRs the same way. Reviewed and merged, not a Trello board.
- Measure + iterate. GSC integration, query-level tracking for primary and near-miss keywords, AI search visibility scoring (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Google AI Overviews). We come back after 30 days with what moved and what to do next.
What you get
- Written technical SEO audit with severity-ranked findings (high / medium / low / informational)
- Stencil theme commits — or PRs on a Catalyst headless storefront — for every recommended fix, implemented not documented
- Schema.org JSON-LD coverage (Product, Article, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList, Organization, Speakable)
- Faceted-navigation and canonical strategy to kill index bloat from filtered URLs
- BigCommerce redirect-manager cleanup and a 301 map that preserves earned authority
- AI-search visibility setup — llms.txt, agents.md, AI crawler allow-list in robots.txt
- Core Web Vitals fixes scoped to Stencil and the BigCommerce CDN
- GSC + GA4 wiring so the next quarter's decisions have data behind them
- Walkthrough call with the engineer who shipped the work
Timeline
2–6 weeks
Audit lands in week 1. Fix waves run weekly, reviewed by a second engineer. Scope flexes based on how much technical debt the audit surfaces — we confirm the engagement length in writing after the audit, not before.
FAQ
- How is this different from a BigCommerce SEO agency?
- Most agencies hand over a Trello board of recommendations and a content calendar. We ship code — edits into your Stencil theme, your BigCommerce settings, or your Catalyst headless storefront. The report exists so you can hold us accountable; the work itself is engineering work, reviewed by a second engineer before it ships.
- Do you fix faceted-navigation and filtered-URL index bloat?
- Yes — this is one of the most common BigCommerce SEO leaks. We set canonical rules, control which filtered URLs are crawlable, and stop Google wasting crawl budget on near-duplicate parameter combinations. It is template and configuration work, and we ship it.
- We run a Catalyst (headless) storefront — can you help?
- Yes. Catalyst is a Next.js storefront, and we ship PRs into it the same way we would any React app — schema, metadata, Core Web Vitals, canonicals, sitemap segmentation. The classic Stencil work and the headless work share the same audit; only the implementation surface changes.
- How do you handle AI search visibility?
- Same as classic SEO, instrumented. We run our own AI Visibility tool against ChatGPT / Perplexity / Claude / Google AI Overviews, score the technical signals (llms.txt, AI crawler allow-list, schema, Speakable, OG, sitemap, headings), then ship the fixes — same model as the rest of the engagement.
- Will you fix Core Web Vitals on BigCommerce?
- Yes — within scope of the storefront you are on. Stencil and Catalyst behave very differently. If the theme architecture is the blocker we will say so plainly and scope it separately; we do not bill SEO retainers to mask a re-platform decision.
- Do we have to use you ongoing?
- No. We are happy to do a one-off engagement, ship the fixes, hand over the audit, and leave. If you want monthly check-ins or quarterly deep-dives that is a separate contract — we never lock SEO clients into retainers that do not earn their keep.
- What does it cost?
- We share pricing on the discovery call and hold the price firm in writing once we have scoped the engagement.
